Ook dit jaar organiseert Jong Havenvereniging verschillende Masterclasses, in samenwerking met het STC-NMU. Voor de eerste schoolbankervaring van 2014 op 3 april staat er zoals gewoonlijk weer een interessante topic op het programma: ‘LNG in Shipping - moving towards a paradigm shift?’ De voertaal tijdens deze Masterclass is Engels.
Recently, the use liquefied natural gas (LNG) as ship fuel has raised the interests of many shipping and shipbuilding companies around the world. There are three important drivers which make LNG as ship fuel one of the proactive future technologies for shipping lines: reduction of considerable emissions (SOx, partially CO2), perceived costs benefits of LNG compared to heavy fuels. However, the shipping industry seems to be reluctant to broadly embrace LNG and make investments in their fleets. This Masterclass will explore from different viewpoints and is particularly interesting for ship owners, shipbuilders, suppliers, the port authority, and classification society.
